Network Support Technician

Network Support Technician - minimum of two years’ experience.  Position located at Port San Antonio, Texas with the 624th Operations Center. Candidate must eligible for a TS/SCI upon hire.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Perform minor repairs, upgrades, and maintenance to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications. Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
  • Investigate and resolve problems, provide technical assistance and support. Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  • Conduct and document inspections and cleaning of all network and infrastructure components.
  • Inspect and test lines and cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults and malfunctions. Splice and terminate copper and fiber cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment. Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, and adjusting equipment. Measure signal strength at termination points using electronic test equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot network audio\video infrastructure hardware and associated software to include the datawall and all 24 AF/624 OC Video Teleconferencing (VTC) equipment

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification or equivalent certification for IAT Level 1 in accordance with DoD 8570.01M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in networking and switching.

Authority/Accountability: The successful candidate will be part of a small working group team and report directly to the Program Task Lead.
