Senior Test Engineer


Summary of Position

Provides Test and Evaluation (T&E) support to the Cryptological and Cyber Systems Division and mentors journeyman T&E professionals.  Includes providing Information Assurance (IA) subject matter expertise related to the design, development and execution of test plans.  Requires the ability to establish test environments that support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Common Access Card and multi-factor authentication scenarios that demonstrate support to Air Force Identity and Access Management solutions.


Essential Job Requirements

•         Ability to establish and troubleshoot network test environment that implement Public Key enabled applications such as Smart Card Logon (SCL), Secure Email and Transport Layer Security (TLS).

·         Experience with Microsoft Windows, Linux, and/or Unix operating systems to properly configure them within secure IT infrastructures.

·         Knowledgeable of the standards, practices, and processes applicable to computer security, encryption and other IA technologies in the DoD and Air Force.

·         Awareness of technologies, policies, processes and procedures associated with cyber security, information assurance, public key infrastructure, and/or public key enabling.

·         Ability to develop, design and evaluate test cases supporting product evaluations

·         Ability to participate and actively engage product teams with information related to Test & Evaluation processes and facilitate verification and validation of product solutions.

·         Ability to articulate test plans, processes and test results in written reports.


Required Education

Bachelors of Science in Engineering Field or Information Security

Current DODI 8570 IAT/IAM level 2 approved certification preferred


Required Experience

•         Experience in the Cyber/PKI/IA community.

•         Experience in providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

•         Experience streamlining/tailoring test procedures to give rapid risk-oriented results


Additional Preferred Skills

•          Ability to configure Microsoft, Java and Network Security Services to utilize DoD trusted PKIs

•          Familiarity with DoD PKI Policy and Certificate Request Processes

•          Established test environments that utilize Smart Card Logon, Active Directory, MS Exchange and Internet Information Server and other Microsoft Identity and Access Management Solutions

•          Ability to utilize virtual and cloud interfaces to manage and maintain virtualized network / computing / test environments

•          Ability to apply, configure and troubleshoot Group Policy settings

•          Ability to troubleshoot and explain network authentication components and processes related to Smart Card Logon and other multifactor authentication solutions.


Physical Requirements

This is a standard office environment and requires lifting and moving of standard personal computers, files, and supplies. 


Equipment Used

Personal computers, software, and government phone systems and networks.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Secret clearance.
