System Engineer II

Roles & responsibilities

Evaluates IT system problems of workflow, organization, and planning. Develops appropriate corrective action. Specialize in RedHat Enterprise License (RHEL), Satellite, and Puppet.

Analyzes redundant hardware and software architectures and develops a combination plan that meets existing requirements while maximizing economy of scale through combination of the systems. 

Develops, configures, and integrates a new database.  Drafts database design document.  Specifies new servers.  Writes CRs.  Prepares user documents and training.  Prepares STIG checklists.  Supports transition.

Analyzes existing infrastructure and recommends upgrades to meet new requirements.  Develops change requests to modify the baseline configurations.  Plans and executes integration tests.  Provides documentation to support IA accreditation.

Identifies hardware and software requirements for a development laboratory.

Analyzes the existing DoD PKI infrastructure to develop a feature backlog for an issuance notification system.  Prioritizes and further analyzes backlog items to facilitate the system design.  Develops and documents CRs to modify the system baseline.

Qualifications

capable of analyzing information technology requirements.

BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Engineering.

5 years relevant experience in system engineering.

At least 2 years of experience in analytical problem solving related to information technology work flow, organization, and planning.

3 years of experience utilizing Red Hat Satellite. A Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certificate may be substituted for 1 year of Red Hat Satellite experience, and a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) may be substituted for 2 years of Red Hat Satellite experience.

Top Secret clearance.
